Egads…….

Wow, nothing like the flu to knock you out!!!  This is such a terrible time to get sick.  So much going on in life and BOOM!!!!!  You are down.  I think I spent 3 days not even getting out of bed except for the emergency potty run and then I rotated from bed to sofa for a few.  I can finally stand on my own again, thankfully.  Now to crawl back out of the abyss.

I’m not a good sick person.  I’m a total baby and don’t wanna be sick (ok so honestly who does? right?)  I feel like I undid everything for my fitness and at this point am still not up to attempting anything.  I think I’m gonna rest this weekend and start back easy on Monday.

Have a great weekend!  Smiles (weak ones today) to all………….

Boxing?? Oh Yea

Ok so I punched on my punching bag last night and OMG I forget how much I love punching on that thing.  Talk about taking all your stress out!!!!  And what a workout.  I plan to add that a couple times a week to my workout.

Other than that, same old, same old for the rest of it.  Nothing exciting going on.  Can’t complain tho, the stress level isn’t high so I’m happy!!!!

Have a great weekend and smiles to all……………

Hunger Pangs?

Wow, I can’t believe it but I think I actually had hunger pangs this morning!  I know you are not supposed to let yourself get that way, but I finished supper last night around 6:45 and didn’t eat anymore and have a fruit smoothie when I’m going to work.  While I was at home about 20 min before I left I felt a kinda rumble but it didn’t feel like a gassy feeling!  I have to admit I haven’t had those in AGES!!!!!!!!  It felt so good.  I remember reading Richard Simmons book way back and him talking about his really skinny unhealthy days and how those hunger pangs gave him such a high.  I hate to admit it but it felt good to experience those pangs.  I guess that’s because I’ve not let myself get hungry in forever.  Always sticking something in my mouth.  Again, I know you should eat every 3-4 hours they say, but I felt proud of myself for having those.  I think a combination of exercising and not eating again before bed did it!  I’ve had my fruit smoothie and the pangs went away and I won’t do that a lot but I think every once in a while we need to feel that so our insides know what it feels like not to be stuffed!!!!

Did the Valerie Bertinelli DVD workout last night.  Beginner level.  Was out of breath a couple of times but it’s doable and I didn’t get frustrated so that’s a good thing.

Work gets stressful at times and just flows right along at times.  Warm up on the way so hopefully can get outside for a bit this weekend, if just to walk around a bit.  Cabin fever!!

Oh happy first week!

Although I had a few dissapoints (I’ll get into later) this week, I had awesome results!  Down 4.8#’s!  Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One disappointment was having to put the C25K on the back burner, just not ready for it, back issues now.  Doing the walking plan for the rest of the month to build up.  Plus my DVD’s.  Watching what I eat without restricting too much.  One thing I think might have made a difference is breakfast.  I have started the day (well or had it around 8:00) with a fruit smoothie.  Frozen fruit, soy milk and protein powder blended in my Ninja and am loving it!  Usually I love the bacon, eggs, etc stuff, tried the oatmeal with walnuts (am starving within an hour) but this week a co-worker gave me the recipe for her fruit smoothie.  One night I was tired and not in the mood to eat (yea that never happens!! but it did) and I had a smoothie for supper.  I’m ordering a smoothie book off Amazon that I’ve looked at before that makes Veggie smoothies also.  I’ve done the veggie juicing and did like it, but you get everything from the veggie like this, fiber and all.  Montel Williams does an infomercial for the HealthMaster food emulsifier and has some veggie smoothies on it.  My Ninja will do just fine but need the recipies.  Portion control is my BIGGIE that I need to work on.

We are warming up somewhat so I’m hopin to get out and do some snow shoeing in the near future.  Talk about a workout!

Smiles for a great week…….

Excitement still there

I did my C25K last night again, or attempted it.  Again couldn’t get it all done, but I’m still plugging away.  I watched, yep I said it, watched, my workout for this morning and it was abs!!!  Don’t we all just love ab work.  There are people that say, "I love ab workouts"  are they serious?  I mean really serious?  I agree they are a necessary evil, but LOVE them??? NO way.  I hate them.  This one was difficult for a beginner, BUT even knowing what it was, I got up and did it this morning.  We will see if I can move tomorrow.  It was hard.  And a reverse crunch?  Come on, if you reverse, it’s usually cause you did it wrong in the first place so it just SOUNDS wrong.  My butt doesn’t want to come up off the ground in that position, not even the slightest.  So I’m not sure what part of my body got worked the most on that one.  Probably my brain trying to figure out the logistics of that move.  BUT, I did it, gonna claim it no matter what!

Work continues on and keeps me busy.  Forever people need us.  But I like helping people if I can.

This evening is house cleaning so that should burn a few calories!!  Have a wonderful day!

So many commercials!!

Well I decided to try something new last night.  While watching Biggest Loser (and having the laundry folding party that no one showed up for but me!) I decided to do 10 crunches at each commercial.  So first commercial didn’t come for almost 25 minutes in the program.  Oh cool!!!!!  BUT………..they were coming fast and furious after that.  I did regular crunches during the first hour and then did standing oblique crunches (10 each side) during the 2nd hour.  I missed one commercial (kinda zoned out) then jumped up after the show restarted and did it, so did make them all.  That did make me feel good.  These are small steps but hey when you add it up I did over 100 crunches.  That really made me feel good.  Tonight is Law and Order: SVU so I can do them again in commercials!

I got up this morning and did the 30 Day Jump Start DVD (only 10 min for first week but starting that C25K really showed me I have to start slow or I’ll get frustrated and give up.)  I’ve never had patience but to make this work I’m gonna HAVE to!!!!!

Really nice to read the comments of encouragement.  It’s nice to know people are pulling for you and not thinking "oh come on you can do better or more".

I just found out yesterday that my mom signed up for a 5K in April and just started the C25K program this week too.  I was so excited for her.  We can keep each other encouraged long distance.  It’s so nice to have a goal and even BETTER to achieve that goal!!!

Smiles to all!

Day 1 of New Beginning complete

Well ok, how do I feel about Day 1?  Good for the most part.  I had to run to Walmart after work for a few items (got a few more but good choices) drove right past Arbys, KFC and BK coming home and was very proud of that.  BUT it put me behind for my schedule that night.  I did a different DVD than I’d planned.  I tried the Jillian Michaels Fat Blaster, Matabolism Booster.  I stress the word "tried" here cause it’s 7 circuits and I made it through 2.  OMG, OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I finished my 2 and vowed to that little beast on the screen, I WILL COMPLETE THIS ONE DAY, YOU JUST WAIT AND SEE!!!!!!!!!  Another goal set now!

I have to say it was a good start.  Got up this morning and got on the stationary bike.  That is a boring workout.  Gonna have to pop in my Reba DVD’s or Everwood or some of the series I have on DVD cause just riding watching the news is not fun at all!!!!!!  Biggest Loser on tonight.  Gotta do a DVD when I get home, then I scheduled a laundry folding party in front of my TV to justify sitting there.  Might ride a little more bike or do crunches in the commercials after laundry.  New Season……..always love that!!

Trying to keep my perkiness level up with this darn weather.  It’s just so cold and I know it’s warming up within a few days but wind then picking up and snow coming…….winter’s not even 1/2 over!!!!!! So ready to get out and snow shoe in my snow shoes I made last year.  Just toooooooooooooooo cold right now!  Oh well, one day at a time and eventually it will get warmer right??????????

Good day to all!

And we’re off!!!

Well today was day 1 and W1D1 on my training program.  I have mixed emotions here.  On one hand I could only get through 1/2 of it, on the other hand I got up and DID IT!!!  I’m so not a morning person and I really drug myself to the gym and that treadmill.  I think part of not being able to complete it was the fact that it was early morning and part was just not being in shape yet!  Here’s the good part tho, I did get up and do as much as I could and I’ll be back up in the morning doing it again.  Tomorrow is Stationary Bike and I’ll do as much as I can.  I want to be able to work out in the mornings.  It just sets the pace for your day and gives you energy.  So week one on my plan may take 2 weeks, we shall see, but I’m so happy I did get up and do it!!!

I packed a healthy lunch and snacks for today.  My mini goal for this week is no fast food!!!  I made the list for weight loss, first 10 off and I get this prize, etc.  Absolutely none of the prizes are food based!

I’m feeling good, good, good about this start.  Again, to keep the feeling fresh!  Tonight I go home and do a 30 min DVD on sculpting, so I’ll have 45 min for the day.  Did all the weighing and measuring last night and recorded it (OMG, it was not pleasant!!!)  I can only go down from here!!!

Up and at’em we go!  Have a GREAT day!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow 2010, and the feeling of excitement begins!!!!!  Even numbered years have been better to me than odd numbered in past history!  I’m so excited for this year.

I did make the decision I was pondering on to ride the week long bike ride this summer.  I’ve ridden this ride 4 years over the past 10 and do love it.  This will give me another goal to work towards.  I can do my C25K M, W and F and ride a stationary bike T,Th and S to start.  That will get me going.

This bike ride is just awesome.  You spend one week with awesome people, and the ride is so self sufficient that you can come from anywhere (I did it first 2 years and didn’t even live in the north!)  It’s a beautiful ride and there are groups of all fitness realms.  Slow (that’s always been me) to super fast (they are finished before I take off for the day).  I want to work really hard and make this, my 5th year (I get to get a jersey this year) my best.  They have these SAG (Support and Gear) Wagons that are there if you need a ride to the next rest area or to the finish.  A mechanic at each rest area to help you out if you run into problems (one year I popped 3 spokes that week).  Go check it out at www.mstram.com and hey if the notion strikes you sign up and ride it!!!  You won’t be sorry.  The donations raised are for Multiple Sclerosis, so you are doing a good thing and having fun all at the same time.

So this year I’m making goals instead of resolutions.  I am getting them on a big poster board to hang so as I complete each goal I can make the GIANT check mark and keep going!

I love the feeling of new, don’t we all?  The biggest part of it is keep that new feeling everyday!!!!!  Another mindset change to make in 2010.

I wish everyone the best!  Happy New Year and HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!*******!!!!!!!!!!!

Only 2 left?????

Wow I can’t believe we only have 2 days left in 2009!  I started 2009 saying "2009 is mine" well some of it was mine and some wasn’t.  That’s ok.  I’m healthy, my family is healthy and I have a job I love and regrets are a waste of time.  I have a new one now "2010 what a time to begin".  I’m excited for the New Beginning.  It’s the beginning of the rest of my life and we never know how long that is so I’m gonna have fun.

I have 2 days to make a decision on something I’m contemplating doing in 2010.  I’ve already decided to do the 5K that’s here in early Fall but this would be another big undertaking but so fun.  I’m leaning towards yes………….but will make that decision after the first.

For now just prepping, making my "goal" lists (don’t like resolutions, I wanna celebrate when I reach the goal) and getting ready to love 2010!

Have a wonderful and SAFE New Year!!!!
